My Dell Experience in Asia

My trip to Asia this past winter was spectacular. I studied abroad in Goa, India for almost three weeks and made a side trip to Taipei, Taiwan on the way home. I did luckily manage to find Dell in both places.

In India, I visited one of the Dell stores in Goa. It was rewarding to see the global impact of the work being done at Dell. In talking with Dell employees there, I learned what was especially important to customers in India. With so many copycat computers flooding the Indian market,  having a physical Dell store is so important to the brand. In buying directly from the Dell store, customers can know for certain about the quality and reliability of the computer they are buying.

In Taiwan, I shadowed engineers at the Dell engineering facility in Taipei. I met with people on the Inspiron, Latitude and XPS teams. It was interesting to see how these teams fit into the process of taking designs from engineering to manufacturing. I also shadowed one of the mechanical engineers on his visit to a supplier manufacturer. I was grateful to see the different manufacturing techniques and how business was done in another culture.

I will carry these experiences back with me and keep them in mind when I start my internship this summer at Dell. It will also be great to have another group of colleagues to bounce ideas off of for my next summer project.
